11th Swedish National Computer Networking Workshop (SNCNW 2015)

Venue and local information

Venue

The workshop will be held at Karlstad University (KAU) in the city of Karlstad.

• KAU is located outside the city center, bus/taxi available from the city square/train station
• The conference with lunches will be held in (or close to) Sjöströmsalen (1B 309) at KAU. See the campus map of lecture halls.

Social event and dinner

The social event starts with a guided boat trip through the city of Karlstad. After approximately one hour, we will make a stop and have a short walk to the restaurant (Stadshotellet) that will serve a buffet of Värmland specialties.

The boat will depart at approximately 18:00 from Mariebergsskogen and arrive at the restaurant at 19:00. To get to Mariebergsskogen you can either take buss no. 12 from the city square (Stora Torget), departing at 17:48, or take a walk there (we will "arrange" a walk from the city square at approx. 17:30).

If you want to go to Mariebergsskogen earlier (it's quite a nice place with a museum, farm animals and stuff), please consult the map or check the bus time table.

Bus tickets cannot be purchased on the bus but there is a vending machine at the city square.

Travel information

Getting to KAU:

• Take bus no. 1 towards "Campus" from the City Square (see map below)
  • Tickets available through vending machines located on the square.
  • Local bus company: Karlstadsbuss.
• Airport transportation:
  • "To and from the airport".
  • Värmlandstrafik runs a request service between Karlstad centre and Karlstad airport. You can book a trip, which will generally be by taxi (but far less expensive), from Resetjänsten (the travel service): +46(0)771-32 32 00.
• Taxis are also available at the city square, train station, or airport.
  • If you arrive by plane, and would like to take a taxi, you need to pre-book!

Hotels

A limited number of hotel rooms have been pre-booked for the conference at Clarion hotel Plaza at a special rate for conference participants. For reservation, contact the hotel directly, see contact information below. Credit card number will be needed to guarantee the reservation.

State the booking code "KAU-MAJ" to receive the reduced rate SEK 921/night for double room (no single rooms available) including breakfast and VAT.
